School of International Education
Located in the Wuchang campus of WIT, the School of International Education(hereinafter referred to as SIE) lies in the center of Optics Valley of China——the National Innovation Model area of East Lake, Wuhan. Surrounded by beautiful scenery and quite environment, SIE integrates extensive cultural atmosphere, convenient transportation with modern teaching and complete living facilities. SIE is also close to the South Lake, enjoying convenient geographic location and exquisite environment.
The School of International Education cultivates international undergraduate students, graduate students and exchange students, and undertakes Sino-foreign cooperative education, which is a direct teaching unit for all kinds of international cooperation education. In accordance with The Higher Education Law of the People's Republic of China and the spirit of Sino-foreign cooperative education by The Ministry of Education, SIE comprehensively implements the Party's educational policies, runs schools in accordance with the law, and accepts the management and supervision of the university and provincial education authorities. The university exercises unified leadership and management over the SIE, making decisions and guidance on major issues such as the school direction, specialty setting, school scale and teaching quality. The university is responsible for awarding graduation certificates and degree certificates to students who have completed their studies in accordance with the training program of SIE.
Since 2008, the number of students is increasing steadily due to the outstanding work of international education in WIT. The scale and level of international education is constantly expanding and increasing at the same time. For a decade, more than 1000 students from Morocco, Algeria, France, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia and othercountries have been to WIT as exchange students or have studied in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, InternationalTrade and Commerce, Intelligent Chemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Art Design, International Education of Chinese Language, Food Engineering, Environmental Engineering and other preponderant science and arts disciplines.
Under a win-win strategy of opening-up, WIT has actively participated in the diversified international education exchanges, holding short-term exchange programs with foreign universities, such as Georgia Gwinnet College in the United States, Curtin University in Australia, University of Malaya in Malaysia and Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore. The university has also established a stable communication and cooperation in joint colleges, exchange programs of teachers and students and joint researches with more than 40 universities and research institutions in the United States, Britain, France, Australia, Canada, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, South Africa and other countries. We are committed to improving the people's understanding of Chinese language and culture, promoting the development of cultural diversity, and contributing to a more harmonious world.
